In Pendragon:The Merchant of Death by D.J Machale, Bobby makes a very regretable mistake. He crosses items from Second Earth into Denduron. This creates a ripple effect on the territory because it involves bringing technology that hasn't been discovered yet into the hands of the denduron civilization. When a small merchant gets his hands on a set of batteries that bobby had brought, he uses the battery acid with a clay like substance to make "tak", which is a substance that explodes on impact.

Bobby who is trying to save the territory by using these items, actually made it worse. The merchant sells the tak to one of the tribes. The tribe then goes to battle with the kingdom using the tak in hopes of a revolution because the kingdom treats the people very poorly. This huge battle kills many people  and ends in a massive explosion. This means Bobby must fix all of the damage that has occured as it is his fault. This mistake ended up in Saint Daine successfully sending the territory into chaos.

In conclusion, Bobby's inductive leap caused the territory to plummet into chaos. This is the part where bobby is beginning to take on his role of a traveller and learning from his mistakes. He takes the knowledge he has learned from his mistakes onto the next territory in his quest to defeat Sainte Dane and save the territories.

Two significant elements from my book pendragon is the element of setting and the element of an event. The element of setting plays a big role in this book as there are 10 different territories. Territories are the different "planets" that Bobby has to travel to. Each one has different aspects and characteristics about the setting that make them interesting. For example on the territory Cloral there is no land, it is all water, with colossal ships that hold farms and civilizations on them. These drastic changes in settings as Bobby travels makes the book very interesting. While Bobby travels to each of these places through the portals, he encounters very important events that change what happens in the future as he travels back in time. For example when Bobby travels to First earth he is put onto earth but in the year 1937, specifically around the time of the hindenburg disaster. Bobby almost prevented the Hindenburg crash; a prevention which would have caused the fall of all 3 Earth territories by having the Nazis discover the atomic bomb first and destroying New York, Washington and London.

I have found a simile in my novel, this poetic device gives the reader an idea of what something looks like. "The dentist, a Jew from Czechoslovakia, had a face like a death mask." (Wiesel,49) This quote is giving me an idea of what the dentist's face looks like, from the text I can guess that the dentist was not a very handsome man and probably scary and intimidating. Poetic devices like similes are very useful to readers to help us understand what a character or surroundings look like. for example, if the author wanted to make the dentist look nice, he might have wrote "The dentist, a Jew from Czechoslovakia, had a face like a puppy." Writing this would make the reader think of the dentist differently. It makes me think the dentist look friendly, not scary, easily approachable. I think the "death mask" the author talks about may have a double meaning. Jews would be examined thoroughly, including a face print into clay, Jews slang for this was the "death mask" because it was very difficult to breathe.

A social issue in my book pendragon: The rivers of zadaa is gender discrimination. One of the other travels is Loor, she is a girl. Loor is restrained and forced to watch Bobby being beaten up by Saint Dane, who had taken the form of one of Loor's tribesmen. After this fight, Loor trains Bobby to defend himself in the training-grounds of Mooraj where Loor had learned. Bobby feels like he is not "manly" enough to be fighting alongside Loor, becasue Loor is a trained warrior and a better fighter than Bobby. Many people could relate to this where a girl is not as good as a man or vice versa. Bobby says " she was perfectly toned, with zero-body fat, she is by far stronger than me." Another social issue in this book would be body image, because she looks better and more fit she must be better than Bobby, which is not necesarilly true.

five elements I like in my book are connections to real world events, lots of conflict, suspense, Interesting characters, and a large problem or issue. Connections to real world events is the most important element when I read a novel. My book  is Night by Ellie Wiesel, its about a jewish boy trying to survive the holocaust. The holocaust was an event during and after world war 2, this books relations to the holocaust are very strong and accurate. "But we had reached a station. Those who were next to the windows told us its name: Auschwitz."(page 24) I know this is related to real world because Auschwitz was a well known concentration camp during the holocaust. 4.1 million jews died in auschwitz and only 61,000 survived, so reading about a young boy my age trying to survive this is very interesting to me.
